Water conservation

I work a fair amount on the topic of water conservation, not a needed topic this year due to all the rainfall, but necessary. Our water plant in town processes nearly 10 million gallons per day that is strictly used for outdoor watering use: lawns, trees, annuals, etc...

This scene made me chuckle a bit, so I had to snap a picture... notice anything odd?

You may have guessed it... that's irrigation water hitting the roof and through the downspout, not a wise use of water.

Tree work

All told, it took about an hour and a half to cut and remove the debris, so that wasn't too bad of a job. The roof is as good as it was before, except that one of the ridge vents (whirlibird type) is a little squished on one part, but it still rotates just fine.

I would like to draw attention to the orange saw in the picture below. It is a Husqvarna 346xp, yes... for those of you who know the chainsaw world, it is a gem. 10.6 pounds, 3.4hp, 18 inch bar, with a freshly sharpened chain. Suitable for ground work and is light enouth for use up in a tree.

I am Treeguy!

Should have known better

When Nicole and I first moved in to the house I noticed that our Green Ash in the back had a poor branch attachment. After closer inspection I determined that it was questionable, but could be left, but checked on a weekly basis. I apparently should have taken my own advice and removed the tree. Thankfully it didn't do any damage to the garage, at least none that I can see. Sorry for the dark picture, it was an early morning for work as both Nicole and I were out the door at 5:55. At least this gives me an excuse to use my saw. Bummer, but what do you do.

Birthday

Sunday, May 27th, was my 31st birthday. I received a new basketball from Nicole, so that was pretty neat. It was already been through its first workout at the neighborhood park. Nicole made a devils food cake with a cream cheese frosting, it was awesome.

Goodbye

Well, Thursday, May 24th was the last day I owned my pickup. It was sad to see it go, but it has been replaced by a much newer and more reliable vehicle, so that is good news. The picture was taken on its final drive.
