Jay Cooke State Park

Well... our last camping trip of the year was at Jay Cooke State Park, near Duluth, MN. We went with two other couples from college over the Labor Day weekend. Spent time hiking, enjoying a campfire, and a day in Duluth. The park was awesome, we'd highly recommend it to others.

Wedding

Another big event that happened this past summer was Nicole's sister was married. It occurred on July 22nd in Chanhassen, MN. The wedding took place in the same church that we were married in. If you ever get a chance to meet Bob, ask him to show you some dance moves, he's pretty good. They are currently living in Savage, MN with their chihuahau, Petey.

Fort Ransom State Park

The first Saturday in August we took a quick day trip to Fort Ranson, ND with the Hjelle's. It was actually pretty nice. Did a bit of hiking, had a picnic lunch, and toured the historic farmstead.

Wow, what a view

This picture was taken from atop an old fire watchtower. You can see Siskiwit bay in the back left, Lake Superior is on the back right of the picture. Notice the path down below as well. This picture is pretty cool, but doesn't do justice as to how it looked in person.

Hmm, what a handsome man!

We're overlooking Feldtmann Lake, standing on Coyote Ridge. In the far background you can see Minnesota/Canada. It felt like we reached our destination when we saw the lake, but we still had about a 2 mile hike left.

Hey baby, how you doing?

This picture is taken at Siskiwit Bay on day two of our trip. We were able to get to our campground by 2:00ish, so it left a lot of time to be able to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Later that evening we were able to spot and listen to a pair of Great Horned Owls.

Isle Royale National Park

Hello again, it has been a while. This picture is from our camping trip with John and Sara Berge at Isle Royale. We camped and hiked for four days and three nights on the island in mid August. It was gorgeous; no bugs, few people, and no noise. Plus the scenary wasn't too bad either. These are the waters of Feldtmann Lake on August 20th. Along the shore, just to the right, Nicole spotted a pair of fresh wolf tracks. That was the closest encounter that we'd get to this creature, maybe next time we'll get a glimpse.
