Kayaks

Well, we finally broke down and bought a kayak for Nicole. We had been saving for 9 months and since the local Scheels store was to be moving to their new location shortly, we decided that the deal they were offering was to good to pass up. It's a Wilderness Systems, Tsunami 140. It's 14 feet long and 24 inches wide. It's more of a day touring kayak, which should work well for most of the water that we paddle on. Nicole is yet to try it out, once the weather turns sunny again we'll probably make a trip over to the Red River.

Race the Red

Hello again!

Last night I was entered in a kayak / canoe race on the Red River. We started at Lindenwood Park, traveled 4 miles upstream, then turned around and went downstream 6 miles to finish at Dike East. However, due to a tornado warning the race was called once we got back to the start point. So... all told I traveled 8 miles. My shoulders are quite sore today, but that's okay. Sorry for no pictures of the event. Nicole and I are hoping to do some kayaking this weekend. Hopefully we'll get a picture of that. - Allen
