Picture in 'Connect'

'Connect' is a publication put forth by the American Zoological Association and their newest issue has a picture that Nicole took in their magazine. It was for a photo contest and she had honorable mention. It is fun to see her name and the zoo listed.

Holiday Lights Parade

This was our first year that we entered a piece of equipment into the parade... we decided upon our newest boom truck. We had numerous people say that our truck looked the best, so that was reassuring. We had 2 deer, 1 Frosty the Snowman, 30' or rope light, 60' of snowflake lights, 400' of green lights, 300' of red, 4 lighted candy canes and 1 wreath with 25' of lights. It was estimated that 15,000 people took in the parade this year. 25-35 degree weather helps as well so it wasn't that cold.

1 month already!

A few weeks ago we were given tickets to see the NDSU vs. SDSU football game. SDSU is our newest and best rival. A few years ago they offered a traveling trophy - the Marker Trophy (I think that's the name of it.) It's an obelisk fashioned like those spanning a number of miles on the border between the 2 states.

To make a long story short - Bison lost by 1 point, SD went for 2 after a touchdown late in the game and converted. Oh well, it was a fun time though.

This was the view from our cushy seats, on the 50 yard line, 8 rows up.

The half-time show: featuring the NDSU Gold Star Marching Band and Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome. They were awesome! Notice there is 5 snares now, when I played there were only 3. I guess the size of the band is now hovering around 200.

Hobnobbing next to the Governor of ND and President of NDSU, their seats were like on the 45 yard line... way worse than ours, but they had one of those boxes where you could slyly drink that yellow/amber colored beverage. I was a little jealous.
