Projects abound

We added the cobblestone base to our fire pit a month or so ago. It's nice not to worry about woodchips heating up or ashes falling through and starting a fire.

Another thing I try to minmize in the fall is raking leaves. I am yet to haul a single leaf to the recycling site... each time a mower runs over a lawn (or a lawn heavy with leaves) it adds roughly a 1/4 pound of nitrogen per square foot. Although it would probably be less time if I waited for leaves to pile up thick and just haul it away as I've mown the lawn 4 times over the last week. Oh well, at least I'm fertilizing while I do it.
