Broken Sump Pump = Bad Things Man

Yes... I guess you truly haven't lived until you've had water in your basement. We woke up 2 Saturday's ago to find standing water around the perimeter of the basement and quickly realized that the sump pump decided to give up. With all the rain we'd been getting, the soil was saturated. Clean up was fairly quick, roughly 3 hours, but then realized that things were a little soggy and needed drying out. A quick call to the insurance company and we are on our way to a new basement. At least we were home so the water didn't seep through the sump hole for days as opposed to hours.

Notice the mold that was growing on the sheetrock, paneling used to cover that area, yuck! It is a blessing in disquise as we can now redo the basement, get rid of the mold, and have it paid for.

Yuck, at least the mold was found now and not in another several years. I didn't think insurance companies covered water damage in Fargo anymore? :)

How are the kitties handling the basement remodel?

They are doing okay... although they were a little freaked out during the demolition day. Of course one of them puked 4 times shortly after the work was done, most likely due to the change/stress. One of which I found when I stepped in, at least I had socks on.
